He is to the right of the feeder just above the little flower…
I hope you can see this cute little guy. I took this picture along with a video of several hummingbirds flying around my head from about 18 inches away from the feeder. There were 5 other feeders hanging around me and I stood in the middle of them to get this shot. They were not afraid of me. It only took me standing there for about 5 minutes for them to realize I would not harm them and then they started swarming all around me. It was kinda hard not to flinch when I thought they might fly into my head..but that was my own insecurities. They were very content. One of them even landed for a millisecond on the little stand. He was so cute.
I tried to load the video but for some reason I couldn’t get it loaded. I’ll try again because I would love for you to see it.
A fact about hummingbirds..the color that you see is not from pigment… it’s iridescence. The color’s brightness depends on the light surrounding it.They have the ability to show or hide their color. For the males this skill allows them to flash, show off or impress the females or to threaten other males.
One more impressive fact…many of these tiny birds fly the entire distance (over 2000 miles) from Canada to Panama every year including the 500 mile non-stop flight over the Gulf of Mexico.
So Now You Know…..too!
